Sri Lanka, Sept. 27 -- A house in the Pokunuwita area in Horana was completely destroyed in a sudden fire yesterday (26) night, Horana Headquarters Police said.

The property located in Sirimewangama, Pokunuwita, belongs to a 37-year-old unmarried Civil Security Department officer attached to the cultural troupe of the Serupita Civil Security Camp in Kalutara.

At the time of the incident, the officer had lit an oil lamp in the living room and left for the temple with his mother, before a neighbour alerted him via a telephone call around 7:45 PM that the house was ablaze.
