SriLanka, March 27 -- The Department of Meteorology warned that the prevailing hot weather across Sri Lanka is expected to persist until May.
Additional Director General of Meteorology Ajith Wijemanna stated that temperatures may ease slightly once the southwest monsoon begins in the latter part of the month.
However, hot conditions are likely to continue throughout April and May, with many regions experiencing above-average temperatures.
Wijemanna explained that the country is currently in the first inter-monsoon period, characterised by low wind speeds and inconsistent wind directions, which contribute to rising heat.
