Sri Lanka, Oct. 29 -- The Headquarters Inspector (HQI) of the Homagama Police Station has been interdicted following instructions from Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala to the Inspector General of Police to conduct an independent investigation into the custodial death of a youth.

The action follows the earlier suspension of three other officers attached to the Homagama Police Station, including the Officer-in-Charge of the Crimes Division, a Sub-Inspector serving as the OIC of the Anti-Corruption Unit, and a Police Sergeant. The Crimes OIC was also arrested yesterday (28) in connection with the ongoing investigation.
