Sri Lanka, May 26 -- The Department of Meteorology says an increase in rainfall can be expected over the southwestern parts of the country as the southwest monsoon has been established across the island.

Intermittent showers or thundershowers are likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya Districts. Some areas in these regions may receive heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm tomorrow (27).

Showers or thundershowers may also occur in a few places in the Uva Province, and in Ampara and Batticaloa Districts after 1 p.m.
