Heavy rainfall expected in five provinces
Sri Lanka, May 16 -- The Department of Meteorology says the low-pressure area located to the northeast of Sri Lanka continues to influence the island's weather conditions.
As a result, intermittent showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Heavy rainfall of up to 75 mm is likely in some areas.
Several spells of rain are also expected in the Anuradhapura District.
Meanwhile, a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces may experience showers or thundershowers after 1 p.m.
