Sri Lanka, May 11 -- Heavy rain exceeding 100mm may occur in many parts of the island within the next 24 hours due to the influence of a low-pressure area located north of Sri Lanka.
The Department of Meteorology announced that there is a high probability of such heavy rain in certain places within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North Western, and Northern provinces, as well as the Galle, Trincomalee, and Batticaloa districts.
The Department of Meteorology requests the public to take necessary measures to minimise accidents caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundery showers.
