Heavy rain expected in several areas tonight due to active South-West monsoon
Sri Lanka, Aug. 1 -- Heavy rain exceeding 100 millimetres can occur tonight in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces, as well as the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts, due to the prevailing active South-West monsoon.
The Department of Meteorology said this in a statement.
Fairly heavy rain exceeding 50 millimetres can occur tomorrow in some places in the Sabaragamuwa province and the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Rain or thundershowers can occur after 2.00 pm in a few places in the Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts, while dry weather will prevail in other areas tomorrow.
