Sri Lanka, Aug. 2 -- Showers will occur from time to time in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western Provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara Districts, the Department of Meteorology forecast.

Fairly heavy showers of about 50 mm can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Kalutara, Galle, and Matara Districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa Districts after 2 p.m.

Mainly dry weather conditions will prevail over the other areas of the country.
