Sri Lanka, Sept. 14 -- The Department of Meteorology forecasts heavy rain with severe lightning can occur in the North Central, North Western, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and Southern provinces, as well as the Ampara, Batticaloa, and Mannar districts this afternoon (14).

People in those areas are advised to remain attentive to the heavy rain and severe lightning conditions accordingly.

The Department of Meteorology further emphasises that the public should take necessary safety measures during thundershowers, as this condition can occur especially in the afternoon or at night.
