Sri Lanka, Nov. 8 -- Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) and Al-Futtaim Logistics have explored ways to strengthen their existing business relationship, as disruptions to shipping in the Middle East have drawn attention to Hambantota's potential as an alternative transhipment hub for vehicles bound for Gulf markets.

The discussions took place during a courtesy visit to Hambantota International Port (HIP) by a delegation headed by the Vice Chairman of Al-Futtaim Group, according to a statement issued by HIPG.

The two sides considered opportunities to broaden their commercial ties, including the contribution of the CASCADIA RoRo Feeder Service towards improving Hambantota's connectivity with markets in the Gulf region.
