Sri Lanka, Sept. 14 -- The highest rainfall of 119.2 millimetres during the past 24 hours ending at 6:00 AM today was recorded in the Halwala area of the Kalutara District.

Elpitiya area in the Galle District received a rainfall of 80 millimetres, according to the Disaster Management Centre.

Heavy rain above 100 millimetres can occur today at some places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North Central, and North Western provinces, the Department of Meteorology stated.

Meanwhile, the temperature felt on the human body during daytime in certain areas of the North Central and Eastern provinces and the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Moneragala, and Hambantota districts can reach a level requiring attention.
