Sri Lanka, Aug. 4 -- Sluice gates of Gregory Lake were opened today (04) afternoon as the water level of the lake elevated rapidly following heavy rainfall, the Nuwara Eliya Disaster Management Unit stated.

Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council temporarily prohibited boat riding on Gregory Lake for safety reasons due to severe adverse weather and dense fog the area, our correspondent reported.

Additionally, reports state that dense fog prevails on the Nuwara Eliya-Badulla main road, Nuwara Eliya-Hatton main road, and Nuwara Eliya-Kandy main road, as well as from Toppass to the Labukele area.

Therefore, police requested motorists to drive with extreme caution when operating vehicles on those roads.
