Sri Lanka, June 11 -- The 2026 Global Peace Index (GPI) report released by the Australia-based Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has identified "energy factors" as a key element affecting global peace and economic stability in the current world order.

The report highlights that ongoing geopolitical instability and conflicts in the Middle East have led to a sharp rise in global crude oil and LNG prices. This, in turn, is restricting global energy supply chains and directly contributing to increased strategic energy competition and political instability among nations.
