Sri Lanka, Sept. 26 -- Minister Bimal Rathnayake stated that the government intends to complete Sri Lanka's current International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme when the four-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement expires in March 2027, while continuing routine engagement with the global lender thereafter.

Speaking to a local media outlet, Rathnayake explained that the government does not currently foresee a necessity to enter into another IMF programme linked to debt restructuring once the existing arrangement comes to an end.
