Sri Lanka, March 10 -- The government is collecting large sums of money from the public through unfair fuel price increases despite previous assurances of adequate supplies.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary and Member of Parliament Ranjith Madduma Bandara expressed strong opposition to these measures during a press conference at the party headquarters today (10).
The MP highlighted that the President previously confirmed the country holds fuel stocks sufficient for 40 days, which were imported at older, lower prices.
He argued that the pricing formula should not be applied to existing stocks to raise costs for consumers.
