Sri Lanka, Oct. 16 -- Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa filed a motion before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court requesting permission to travel abroad for treatment required after a heart surgery performed in Singapore.

Accordingly, he requested through the motion to temporarily lift the travel ban imposed on him.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court imposed this travel ban on Gotabaya Rajapaksa about four months ago in connection with the case regarding the failure to prevent the Easter Sunday terrorist attack.
