Sri Lanka, June 3 -- The Ministry of Health says that a special gazette has been issued to recruit an additional 3,000 student nurses, as part of the plan to achieve the target of recruiting 13,600 nurses over the five-year period from 2025 to 2029.

This initiative is being implemented as a key programme of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media under the guidance of Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, the ministry said.

Accordingly, 3,000 eligible students who have passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level examinations in the science and mathematics streams in the years 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 will be selected for training.
