Fuel tankers association urges public not to panic buy as no shortage exists
Sri Lanka, Oct. 5 -- There is no fuel shortage or supply disruption island-wide, and the public should refrain from panic buying fuel unnecessarily, according to the Ceylon Petroleum Private Tanker Owners Association.
Speaking to a newspaper, association president A.M.H. Adhikari stated that queues formed at a few filling stations simply because certain station owners failed to place fuel orders on time.
Addressing fuel transport commission fees, he noted that the existing commission formula requires revision.
He added that the current formula failed to account for transport commission rates applicable to the Central Hills and Southern Province during its formulation.
