Sri Lanka, April 16 -- Domestic fuel prices may need to be increased due to fluctuations in global market rates.
Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa shared this information while speaking to the media in Agalawatte today.
The Minister noted that the Treasury intends to absorb a significant portion of the cost increase.
Meanwhile, industry experts suggest that the Public Utilities Commission should reject a request made by the newly formed power sector operating and transmission companies to raise electricity tariffs for three months starting April 1.
