Fuel distributors given 2 days to review new pricing formula
Sri Lanka, Oct. 3 -- The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation agreed to a 15% fare increase during discussions held yesterday (02), although the All Ceylon Petroleum Private Tanker Owners' Association requested a 20% rise.
Association secretary D. V. Shantha Silva stated that they obtained time until the day after tomorrow to study the tariff hike methodology announced by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
Private tanker owners requested the government to increase the payment for fuel transport by considering the costs required to run the business, including diesel, tyres, batteries, maintenance costs, and employee wages.
They stated that the pricing formula determining transport fares should be revised accordingly.
