Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (15) ordered the release on bail of former Western Province Passenger Transport Authority Chairman Prasanna Sanjeewa, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

The suspect, who previously served as the chairman of the Beruwala Pradeshiya Sabha and as a provincial councillor, was ordered to be released on two surety bails of 500,000 rupees each. The magistrate also imposed a travel ban on the suspect.

According to facts presented to the court by the Bribery Commission, the suspect is accused of issuing two expressway passenger transport permits in 2020 without following the proper tender procedure of the Weste...
