Sri Lanka, Feb. 25 -- A 72-hour detention order was issued for retired Major General Suresh Sallay, the former State Intelligence chief, following his arrest in connection with the Easter Sunday attack investigations.
Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler, the police spokesperson, stated that the arrest took place in the Peliyagoda area as part of ongoing inquiries into the 2019 terror attacks.
Sallay served as a military intelligence chief during the war and held a diplomatic post at the embassy in Malaysia when the April 21, 2019, bombings occurred. At that time, Senior DIG Nilantha Jayawardena served as the Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS).
