Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- The former private secretary to former Minister and Badulla District MP Chamara Sampath was further remanded until October 23 over the alleged solicitation and deposit of an Rs. 8.1 million bribe into his bank account from three phosphate importing companies. Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued this order today (09).

The suspect, identified as Liyanarachchige Sumathipala Liyanarachchi, was remanded accordingly.

Investigating officers informed the court that the suspect was arrested for committing the offence of corruption under the Bribery Act.
