Former President Gotabaya leaves FCID after MiG deal statement
Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who arrived at the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division this morning, departed after giving a statement.
The former President arrived at the division around 9:15 AM today to give a statement regarding the investigation into the MiG aircraft deal.
Regarding this, the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division yesterday recorded a statement from former Air Force Commander, Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke as well.
Allegations surfaced regarding an irregularity in purchasing MiG-27 fighter aircraft from Ukraine for the Sri Lanka Air Force in 2006, and former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa served as the Defence Secretary at that time.
