Sri Lanka, March 26 -- Ranil Wickremesinghe marked his 77th birthday on March 24 while completing one week since undergoing surgery in Singapore.

The procedure was performed by Dr Sivadasan, a prominent heart surgeon of Sri Lankan origin who relocated to Singapore following the events of Black July in 1983.

The specialist is recognised globally for his expertise, having previously treated former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne.

Family members, including Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe and brother Channa Wickremesinghe, accompanied the former President to Singapore.
