Former minister Jagath Pushpakumara arrested
Sri Lanka, July 8 -- Former Minister Jagath Pushpakumara was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption today (8).
The arrest was made in connection with an ongoing investigation conducted by the bribery commission.
Reports indicate that the former minister was taken into custody when he arrived at the bribery commission premises this morning to provide a statement.
Jagath Pushpakumara previously served as the State Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion, Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries, and Minister of Coconut Development and Janatha Estate Development.
The former minister was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
