Sri Lanka, Oct. 16 -- The Criminal Investigation Department arrested the former Officer in Charge of the Galle District Crime Division in connection with the murder of an individual known as Almeida, alleged to be the main shooter of the alleged organised criminal 'Loku Patty'.

An unidentified body with hands and feet tied to a concrete pillar and a severely disfigured face was found near the Ging River bridge in the Wakwella area, Galle, last June.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the body belonged to Loku Patty's main shooter.

The former OIC of the Galle District Crime Division was taken into custody following the disclosure of various facts regarding the murder.
