Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena's wife re-remanded over bribery attempt
Sri Lanka, Oct. 6 -- Three suspects, including the wife of former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena, were re-remanded until the 20th over an alleged attempt to bribe a court office assistant to induce a judge to grant a suspended prison sentence.
Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena's wife Chinari Lakmanthi Hettiarachchi, Colombo High Court office assistant named Charith, and the Minuwangoda Magistrate's Court Registrar were re-remanded accordingly.
Colombo Principal Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued this order today (06) after considering facts presented by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption upon producing the suspects in court.
