Sri Lanka, Aug. 30 -- Former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran has stated that a claim made by a senior minister of the current government alleging he has legally changed his name is completely false.

According to a report published by a local English news website, he made the clarification in a letter addressed to the website.

He reportedly noted that the assertion made by a prominent minister regarding his name change is untrue, rejecting the allegation outright.

Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala recently stated that the Criminal Investigation Department had received information indicating that the former Central Bank Governor had changed his name to "Harjan Alexander".
