Sri Lanka, Aug. 23 -- Five individuals died in several fatal road mishaps that occurred in various areas across the island yesterday (22), Police Media Division says.

A pedestrian walking on the road died in a mishap that occurred in the Katuneriya area on the Marawila-Wennappuwa road within the Marawila police division, and police state that the identity of the deceased is not yet confirmed.

The mishap occurred when a lorry travelling towards Wennappuwa collided with this pedestrian who was walking on the roadside.

The pedestrian who sustained serious injuries in the mishap died after being admitted to the Marawila Hospital.

The driver of the lorry involved in the mishap was arrested, and Marawila Police are conducting further invest...
