Sri Lanka, Oct. 2 -- Coast Guard personnel apprehended five fishermen at the Wellamankaraya fishery harbour on October 1, 2026, after discovering 35 kilograms of dried shark fish and 4.5 kilograms of shark fins in their possession.

The arrests took place while routine arrival formalities were being conducted at the harbour.

The suspects, along with their fishing vessel and the confiscated shark products, have been handed over to the Wellamankaraya Fisheries Inspector's office to undergo further legal action.
