Sri Lanka, Oct. 24 -- Sri Lanka Customs said it discovered five containers carrying highly concentrated nitric acid following information received through the Ministry of Defence.

Speaking at a press conference in Colombo yesterday (23), Customs Media Spokesperson Chandana Punchihewa said authorities had reduced the hazardous condition associated with the consignment by around 90 per cent.

He added that further action would be taken in coordination with the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA).
