Sri Lanka, April 17 -- Ragama Police took five suspects, including the primary female suspect, into custody following an incident where a woman was assaulted and had her hair cut inside a store.

The Police Media Division stated that officers initiated action based on video footage circulating on social media.

After recording a statement from the victim, police sent her to the Ragama Teaching Hospital for a medical examination.

The arrested individuals include the 27-year-old primary suspect from Ragama and four young men aged 20, 21, 22, and 23.

These suspects are residents of Rajanganaya, Kadawatha, Ragama, and China Bay in Trincomalee. The five suspects are scheduled to appear before the Welisara Magistrate's Court tomorrow (18).
