Sri Lanka, April 17 -- The Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation announced that the first vessel carrying crude oil to Sri Lanka since the onset of the Middle Eastern conflict arrived successfully at the Colombo Port today (17).

The vessel, named 'DESH MAHIMA' and owned by the Shipping Corporation of India, traveled from the United Arab Emirates to reach the island. It transported a total of 97,500 metric tonnes of crude oil.

According to the Ministry's media unit, the process of transferring the oil via pipelines to the Sapugaskanda Refinery commenced immediately after the ship docked.
