Sri Lanka, April 24 -- A sudden fire erupted at a retail store located in the Kada 50 area of Anuradhapura this morning (24).

Anuradhapura Municipal Council fire brigade officers arrived and quickly controlled the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the shop and surrounding businesses.

Police stated that firecrackers and fireworks brought in for the festive season remained inside the store, and their explosion accelerated the spread of the flames.

While a short circuit is suspected to be the cause, Anuradhapura Headquarters Police are conducting further investigations.
