Finance Ministry seeks public proposals to boost state revenue
Sri Lanka, June 5 -- The Revenue Management Committee of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has called for proposals, policy recommendations and analytical reports from local expert bodies, professional institutions, the private sector and any Sri Lankan citizen to help achieve the medium- and long-term goal of raising government revenue to 20% of GDP.
The committee, established under the Public Financial Management Act No. 44 of 2024, issued this public notice.
Submissions may cover a range of areas including formalising the informal economy, broadening the tax base, digitising revenue collection agencies, encouraging voluntary tax compliance, and implementing data-driven revenue systems.
