Sri Lanka, June 5 -- The government has taken steps to increase the fertiliser subsidy provided per hectare for the Yala season to Rs. 30,000.

Speaking at a press briefing on current fertiliser stocks and distribution procedures, Commissioner General of Agrarian Development Dhammika Ranatunga said that a bag of urea fertiliser will be made available at a maximum price of Rs. 10,200.

Further elaborating, he stated:

"The government has decided to increase the fertiliser subsidy from this season onwards. Previously, the subsidy was Rs. 25,000 per hectare, but it has now been increased to Rs. 30,000 per hectare for paddy cultivation. In the initial phase, around 48,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser were distributed through all Agrarian Servi...
