Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- A protest staged by a representative of a farmer organisation on the roof of the new shopping complex in Hingurakgoda continued today (12), alleging that genuine farmers face injustice as the government organises public rallies with political supporters instead of providing essential facilities to actual farmers.

The demonstration was launched yesterday by S. Samaraweera, Secretary of the Abeypura branch of the Pulasthi Farmers' Collective.

Representatives from several other farmer organisations gathered at the site today to express their support for the protest.

They stated that the government has so far failed to establish a guaranteed price for paddy.
