Sri Lanka, April 12 -- A 58-year-old resident of Thanthamala, Kokkadichcholai, passed away yesterday after suffering an electric shock while attempting to operate a water motor for his crops. Initial investigations by the Kokkadichcholai Police indicate the man was trying to set up the motor to irrigate his cultivation when the incident occurred.

A technical fault or a current leak led to the severe electric shock, according to police reports. The victim's body is currently at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination. Officers from the Kokkadichcholai Police Station are conducting further investigations into the matter.
