Elite businessmen targeted cocaine racket uncovered
Sri Lanka, Oct. 5 -- Officers of the Terrorism Investigation Division uncovered a large-scale cocaine racket that was operated from Italy over a period, targeting high-class businessmen in the country.
Police stated that two suspects were arrested along with nearly 500 grams of cocaine during a raid conducted in the parking lot of a luxury restaurant in Seeduwa based on intelligence information.
Police mentioned that the value of the seized stock of cocaine is close to Rs. 200 million.
The two individuals arrested are 45-year-old Jayakody Arachchige Don Mahesh Gayan, a resident of Katana, and 25-year-old Pathiranage Naveen Hirusha Fernando, a resident of Negombo.
