Sri Lanka, Feb. 28 -- A 74-year-old resident of Kaikawala, Rattota, passed away yesterday (27) after falling into a canal near her home.

Local authorities initiated an investigation immediately after receiving a report that the woman was discovered in the water.

The body currently remains at the Matale Hospital morgue pending a post-mortem examination.

Rattota Police are conducting further inquiries to determine the exact circumstances surrounding how she fell into the canal.
