SriLanka, March 22 -- An 80-year-old man was taken into police custody yesterday (21) for the illegal possession of 2,200 litres of diesel without a valid permit.

Hungama Police discovered the fuel cache stored in 11 barrels during a raid conducted in the Mamadala area of the Ambalantota police division.

The suspect was handed over to the Ambalantota Police Station for further processing.

Ambalantota Police are currently conducting extensive investigations into the source of the fuel and the intended purpose of such a large stock.
