Sri Lanka, June 4 -- The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Eheliyagoda Police Station, who was arrested by the Ratnapura Divisional Crime Investigation Unit over allegations of forcibly obtaining money from both parties involved in a gem theft case, has been released on bail by the Avissawella Magistrate's Court today (04).

The court ordered the suspect to be released on two surety bails of Rs. 1 million each.

The court also imposed an overseas travel ban on the suspect and instructed him not to influence the complainants as a condition of bail.

The case is scheduled to be recalled on July 03.

According to police, the investigation stems from a complaint related to a gem theft incident reported in August 2025.
