Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has officially released Circular No. 31/2026, detailing the complete school term calendar, key examination dates, and scheduled holidays for the 2027 academic year.

According to Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Nalaka Kaluwewa, all government and government-approved private schools, alongside approved pirivenas, will operate for a total of 197 days during the year.

School Term Dates for 2027

Sinhala and Tamil Schools

First Term runs from Monday, 04 January 2027 to Friday, 09 April 2027, followed by school holidays from 10 April to 25 April.
