Sri Lanka, March 11 -- The Economic Surveillance Committee met to safeguard Sri Lanka's economic stability and citizen welfare against external pressures, following a proposal by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, Deputy Minister of Finance and Minister of Labour, chaired the session held yesterday afternoon at the Presidential Secretariat.
The Presidential Media Division stated that the meeting focused on potential adverse impacts on the local economy arising from global economic instability caused by the current conflict in the Middle East. Furthermore, the committee discussed immediate steps to stabilise the market and protect citizens during this crisis.
