Sri Lanka, May 31 -- A man died yesterday (30) afternoon after a mound of earth suddenly collapsed on him while he was removing soil near a building in the Glentilt Estate area in Maskeliya, the Police stated.

The deceased was a 41-year-old resident of the Glentilt Estate area.

Police investigations revealed that the deceased was removing soil to prepare the ground required to construct another building near his house.

The police mentioned that while the individual was cutting the soil, an upper mound of earth instantly collapsed and trapped him, and although residents took steps to admit him to the Maskeliya Hospital, he passed away at the hospital.
