Early intelligence raised alarm over Negombo Prison tensions, says MP Harshana
Sri Lanka, July 7 -- Government authorities failed to take appropriate action despite receiving intelligence reports about the volatile situation at the Negombo prison three to four days before the unrest occurred, according to Opposition Member of Parliament Harshana Rajakaruna.
The parliamentarian made these remarks while participating in a parliamentary debate on the matter today (07).
This incident did not occur unexpectedly, as officials remained aware of the tensions but failed to implement proper management or make decisive choices.
