Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- Shortcomings and delays were observed in the ongoing investigation regarding a stock of narcotics illegally brought into the country hidden inside two containers shipped from Pakistan to Sri Lanka.

A special internal investigation was launched by the Police Special Investigation Unit on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police to examine whether the inquiry was conducted properly and impartially.

The Central Crimes Investigation Bureau is conducting the investigation with high transparency, a statement issued by Sri Lanka Police added.
