Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- The Minister of Energy, Anura Karunathilaka, urged the public not to be misled by false reports spreading on social media, stating that there was no risk of any fuel shortage in the country, and asked them to refrain from unnecessarily hoarding fuel.

Speaking to the media, the Minister pointed out that buying and storing excessive amounts of fuel unnecessarily could further complicate the temporary supply disruptions currently being experienced.

He therefore asked the public to obtain only the amount of fuel they needed, and assured that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation was ready to maintain an uninterrupted fuel supply without any shortage.
