Sri Lanka, March 9 -- Officers managing the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) data system lack adequate computer knowledge, according to revelations made during a Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) meeting. These findings surfaced when DMT officials were summoned before the committee, chaired by Member of Parliament Kabir Hashim, at the Parliament complex recently.
Authorities are set to take further action regarding 25 specific points related to fraud, corruption, and irregularities within the department. The Commissioner General of the DMT stated that they are working with the police to initiate legal proceedings against officials suspected of involvement in these fraudulent activities.
